Former CASUALTY actor Ben Turner is to appear in the second series of BBC daytime drama ‘WPC 56’.

Set in 1950s Birmingham, Ben stars as DI Max Harper, whose investigation into the murder of a town councillor puts him on the scent of dodgy businessman Lenny Powell.

Talking to What’s on TV, Ben said ‘I loved working on WPC. I’d always wanted to do something set in the ’50s and had never played this kind of role before,” adding ‘But ultimately I think what made the job so great was the fab cast and crew. Super friendly. Super talented. I would have quite happily stayed for longer.’

Ben, who played popular nurse Jay Faldren in the medical drama from 2008-2011, last year completed a successful theatre tour of ‘Kite Runner’.

WPC 56 comprises of five 45 minute episodes which are due to screen on BBC1 from Monday to Friday, 10th-14th February. The show also stars former HOLBY CITY actress Rachel Leskovac.
