Blimey, I haven't been around here for a bit. I went riding (for the first time in at least a year and a half) in Dartmoor last week on a hack, and it's definitely given me the buzz of riding back. Rode a lovely 16.3hh bay called Imp and got to do some cantering on the moors. It's the first hack I've done and I loved it so am going to book some lessons back here biggrin.gif

That sounds fun Romy! Yay for getting back into riding! happy.gif Daisy I hope the placement goes well!! biggrin.gif

I have had another amazing few days with the shetlands!! Got up there on the wednesday at about 8ish so didnt have tiem to do anyting in the evening just relaxed with Steph and her family. Then the Thursday was Crosby show. Quite a small localish show (20mins from the yard) we took Precious and Bailey the foal, Kayman the stallion, Amethyst and a yearling called Ella-ray (might have spelt that wrong..) who had never been to a show before!! I was put incharge of taking care of Bailey and trying to extract hay seeds from his mane (NOT and easy task cause the little terror had rubbed them in really well.. rolleyes.gif )

Precious and Bailey both came first, Kayman came Second, Amethyst came second too and Ella-ray came 4th out of 6 in her very first show and behaved like an angel!! biggrin.gif SO we had four horses in he championships so Steph asked me to take Bailey the foal in and he behaved like a STAR! not a hoof wrong! he didn't win but still!! happy.gif

In the afternoon I hacked out Scooby with Laura (Stephs daughter) on Rosie and we had a few trots and a short canter along the roadside too!! he was lovely to ride, little more responsive than rosie but also quite fun!

On Friday I groomed Rosie and Scooby, then I groomed Kayman and helped wash another mare - Velvet ready for the show on saturday! then I hacked out Rosie aroudn the block on her own (she was an angel!) then I also took Scooby out with Steph walking the dogs and he was a good boy too!!! happy.gif Then we went to put the antibactial cream stuff on Catsi's microchip wound and I played with the foals especially Wasdale (little Oddball but I love him hes ace!! laugh.gif ) he decided to continue with his mission to chew my boots!!! rolleyes.gif We took Rosie the dog down with us to the field and we tied her to the fence whilst we sorted the foals out and Mungrizdale got nosy and she barked at him so he started leaping about and then Wasdale (being the cheeky little so and so he is) joined in with the leaping about and rearing and bucking so Nyla (Wasdales mum and totally over protective mare who was obviously on baby sitting duty that night) charged over and aimed a kick at Rosie the dog so I had to go get her and shoo the ponies off! We then let all the mares and foals into the bottom field which made Kendal and Amethyst in the top field gallop about like total loonatics!!

I also met four year old Teagan who was riding Ginger Lauras old pony in her first ever show on the Saturday! Poor Ginger was given a full bath including half a bottle of bubble bath being poured over him so he turned white and frothy!! but afterwards I had seriously never seen a more shiny coat!! laugh.gif (Teagan won 1st in her ridden class, 2nd in the Local pony class and 3rd in the in hand class she did!! bless her!)

Saturday was show day. 5.30am start!! In the lorry for 6 and on the way down to Malham a slightly bigger but still small show with Kayman, Velvet and Precious and Bailey. It chucked it down but luckily brightened up intime to sort the ponies out - I was incharge of Bailey again (who was in a mood and a half!!!) after Kayman's class (he came first!) we took Velvet, Precious and Bailey to the ring (Bailey stormed off like a right independent little thing away from his mum followed Velvet instead and did a few leaps on the way!). Velvet came first and Precious and Bailey both second so I got to take Bailey in the championship again and someone was taking pictures (one of those online photo places that comes to take pictures at shows) so theres a picture of me leading him around!! biggrin.gif

Me (with very messy hair) leading Bailey the foal!!

When we got back we just relaxed then took all the ponies to the fields moved Ravenglass (a two year old) into the mare and foal field to Kayman could go back in with the mare he was covering (Ravenglass had been keeping her company whilst he was showing)! But when we put her in the field with the mares and foals 12 week old Wasdale decided he had a crush on her and chased her then mounted her (and Mungrizdale joined in so poor Ravenglass had two of them to shake off!!! laugh.gif )

Then I had to come home sad.gif But I had so much fun! Steph gave me a necklace fro mthe show to say thanks for all my help but I didnt want to leave... so i'm back up in the 7th!!! biggrin.gif

Rode Fancy yesterday too! Julie still driving me nuts.. she was fussing aroudn Fancy and it was obvious fancy didnt care at all.. she couldnt get her to pick her foot up and then I got her to do it first try... rolleyes.gif Fancy was a good girl though considering it was all windy and horrid! not as spooky as she can be sometimes!! I am back riding her tomorrow morning!! smile.gif

I haven't been in this thread for agesss sad.gif

Ems : Sounds like you had a great time biggrin.gif

I took Arney pony to a show at the start of August. We did the Prelim 12 & Prelim 18. The hack down there was interesting as Arney doesn't like scary Lorries & Tractors rolleyes.gif So when we met a lorry right outside the shwo ground enterance (typical!) he launched himself sideways into the middle of the rode, silly animal.

He was very excited when we got the field for the dressage, so we had to neigh at everything rolleyes.gif So after I had warmed up, we went in for the prelim 12, he neighed the whole way through but we got 56%, we didn't get placed as the classes were huge, there were 30 in the Prelim 12 ohmy.gif After that we had anice long break so took his tack off and I walked him around for a bit. Then It was Prelim 18 time, I was so worried about this test, so I only went and forgot the bloody half-circles *head desk* Sack the jockey!

But the judge was so lovely, she found someone to call my test and let me restart smile.gif I got 55% so I was very pleased biggrin.gif Didn't get placed again though as the class was massive again. But I had such a good day & I learnt so much!

So photos : PS: I know how fat Arney was, but he now is on a very strict diet tongue.gif

Gemzie - thankyou smile.gif He's okay now, it's healing smile.gif

Loving everyones pictures, and everyone seems to be getting on fab! Well done with the dressage Ty, that's awesome smile.gif Ems - sounds like you are loving it smile.gif

Just spent the weekend with my sister at the riding club champs - they won the pairs, won the team riders test, she won her arena for the riders test (over 82%!), team 2nd + individual 4th for junior dressage + 7th+ 11th for style jumping. Very successful weekend I'd say!

Working at a local race yard/horse swimming yard atm, they all started being ridden today, + none of them killed me smile.gif Some of them are going to be a nightmare when fit though! Race horses hey!

That does sound like a sucessful weekend Amy! happy.gif Good luck with getting the racehorses fit!! Sounds fun smile.gif

I've been back to the shetlands again since my last post! happy.gif We went to West Morland county show last thursday with Dow Crag & Mungrisdale (mare & foal), Velvet (older mare),Elena (2/3 year old) and Ellaray (yearling) Dow came first in the broodmare class, Mungrisdale third (though we were a bit like wtf as the other two foals were literally throwing themselves on the floor!! rolleyes.gif He didnt bat an eyelid bless him! But he's a bit leggy and almost as big as his mum so..) Elena came first in the 2/3year old class against a good 8 or so other 2/3year olds, Ellaray came 7 our of 9 but it was her third show and she had only been puleld out the field at 5.30am and brushed as they forgot she'd been entered.. and Velvet came first in the mare or gelding 4 years and over class against 18 other ponies!!! And then she won the Shetland Pony championship!!! biggrin.gif

I was hacking out Scooby (hes gorgeous to ride!) and Laura Stephs daughter was riding Rosie on wednesday evening in t-shirts because it was sunny and we got part way back and suddenly it chucked it down, rain, wind, hail the lot! Steph drove out ot find us and hand to drive back behind us with the van's hazards on... we got to the foals field and the next thing we knwo there is thunder and lightning and the foals and mares are galloping abotu but thankfully Rosie and Scooby were safe as houses! But we were ever so slightly soaked from head to foot.. rolleyes.gif

I also have some new pictures to share!!! biggrin.gif

Firstly and most importantly meet Wasdale!!! happy.gif The most adorable oddball foal ever who has a rather large liking for my wellies!! rolleyes.gif

Mungrisdale meets smokey the cat...

Ellaray theifing hay!!

The filly foal - Catsycam

Bailey and one of the mares (probably Precious - might be Dow)

Bailey (The black foal - I'm pretty sure) and Bleaberry Tarn (the coloured foal) and a few of the others in the field

Mungrisdale, Bailey, Bleaberry Tarn grooming one of the mares probably Precious, Sunshine or ow crag.

Wasdale, Bleaberry and Ravenglass (yearling whos tail was eaten by one of the other ponies so they can't show her sad.gif )

Thankyou Ems happy.gif & Arrrrgh with the getting caught out in the rain, I've been there before + it's horrible isn't it! I don't mind riding in the rain, it's just a pain when everything is soaked when you have finished! Tack needs cleaning, horses are soaking, boots are wet + you are soaked laugh.gif Loving the pics again smile.gif

Erm Ty, I think so wink.gif All I was asked to do was stay on (as I helped out with the swimming a couple of days a week over summer) + do the race horses, I have never been to a point to point in my life so y'know!! hahaa. Hope you are enjoying the diploma smile.gif OOh & thankies for liking the pic on facebook, I love that pic, he's so adorable <3
