It's 30 years ago today that Elvis died. Does anyone remember what they were doing when they heard?
I don't remember exactly what I was doing, I just recall that I was 7 years old, and was aware that it was big news. I know the radio stations kept playing Way On Down, one of my favourite Elvis hits still.

Haven't listened to much of his music, but what I have heard, I like.

Jax, you're just old.

Nope, wasn't even thought of back then. He's okay but I wouldn't say I think much of him - but back in his day I bet he must have been something really original.
I like a couple of his songs... You Will Always be on my Mind is one of my favouties and there's another one but I dunno what it's called.

I wouldn't say I'm old Fiona, just have plenty of...life experience?
I think it's sad that there's no-one around now who will be an icon like Elvis, or is likely to be remembered and celebrated like Elvis

I think I have vaguest recollection but I was only very small.
Elvis rocks. He is/was a legend, and by all accounts a thoroughly modest and nice bloke. Graceland rocks (done it twice

)

Thank you Uncle Pete for coming to my rescue! At last, I'm not the only one who was around 30 years ago!
I'd love to see Graceland, bet it's kind of strange being there, knowing Elvis once lived there.

There are at least three of us! I was listening to Radio Luxembourg and the DJ, who I think was called Tony Prince, was crying when he said that Elvis had died and then he played "In the Ghetto". Every time I hear the song I remember that night.

I'm way too much of a spring chicken to remember personally, but the guy deserves respect. If not just for being a major musical influence to just about everyone, than because he had it goin' on, man.

I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents eye then, in fact I don't think they were even together at that point.
I have heard some of his music and I like some of it but not all of it.

My mum was seventeen [the age I am now yikes!] on her way to work and spent the day crying her eyes out.

My dad fell off a motorbike and broke his nose that day, he told me

Buttt... yeah, he was/is a real legend and tbh I don't think we'll have another one like him *nods*

Elvis is such a LEGEND !!! My dad loves Elvis and has ALL his songs. Got the influence from my dad. Maybe one day I can take my dad to Graceland, just to see where the king of rock and roll lived his life.
