Duffy Makes Permanent Return to Casualty

The Mirror has confirmed that original cast member Cathy Shipton, who plays loveable nurse Duffy, is to make a full return to the show.

Duffy will return for the 1000th episode later this month before making a full return to the show in the new series, as the show celebrates it’s 30th anniversary with some explosive storylines.

Duffy will reveal to Charlie that she has left her husband and children in New Zealand and is back working as an agency nurse in Holby.

Cathy played the role of Duffy in the first eight series of the show, but has made a number of returns during the show’s history. A brief comeback last year proved popular and fans will be delighted to hear she is back full-time.

‘The response was so positive that I’ve stepped right through and am thrilled to be back on the show,’ Cathy says. ‘The future looks very exciting for Duffy both professionally and personally, and I am equally excited to be working with such a talented and creative team of actors, writers, directors and producers.’

Executive Producer Oliver Kent added, ‘It’s completely thrilling to have her with us full-time. The dream team of Charlie and Duffy are back together again. Long live Chuffy.’
