
During a routine training exercise, Matty and Kim find themselves in a real-life crisis when Grace, the woman leading the simulation, suddenly starts vomiting blood. Fearing she has a highly infectious disease, panic spreads — especially for Matty, who hadn’t worn his protective mask. As he grows increasingly anxious, Dylan watches from the sidelines, torn by his own secret.
Iain tells Faith that he wants to try again with their relationship. Faith questions whether he’s doing it for love or simply because of the baby. Later, when Stevie senses something is wrong, Faith admits she’s pregnant. Stevie encourages her not to give up on Iain and Faith apologises for being so caught up in her own problems that she forgot Stevie’s recent cancer check-up.
Faith comforts a teenage girl, Erica, who is brought into the ED with chest injuries after being stamped on during a rugby game. Meanwhile, Siobhan treats Louise, a woman with muscular dystrophy who is struggling to swallow and will eventually lose her voice. Still processing her recent trauma, Siobhan struggles to connect with the patient and feels guilty. She confides in Flynn, who suggests she take time off which she declines. He suggests at the very least she seek counselling.
Jan is frustrated by a spate of hoax calls to 999. She takes a call from a young boy, Asa, whose father, Lee, is suffering a seizure. Although Jacob and Iain initially respond to another hoax, they use the boy’s directions to track down his house and bring him and his dad to ED. When Lee regains consciousness, Faith praises him for raising a boy who handled a frightening situation with bravery and calm.
News comes in that Grace’s illness is not infectious. When Flynn admits he delayed telling Matty on purpose — hoping to shake him up — Dylan reacts with fury, slamming him against the wall.
An elderly couple, Eileen and Alba, visit the ED. Eileen fears she has cancer, but is also hesitant about being open about their relationship. When her results reveal a chest infection, not cancer, Alba is relieved but angry that Eileen still won’t acknowledge their partnership. Later, Eileen makes a public proposal in reception and the two reconcile.
Teddy asks Jan to give Ashley a lift home after she is discharged. On the way, Jan takes a detour to confront the teen behind the recent hoax calls. Her heartfelt explanation about the dangers of hoaxes fails to make an impact — until Ashley shows her police badge and threatens arrest if it happens again.
Matty is left doubting whether he has a future in the ED. Kim reassures him and tells him to believe in himself.
Faith goes to find Iain, hoping to reconcile, but Jacob tells her he’s not in.
