Popular former CASUALTY actor Simon MacCorkindale has revealed he has been fighting a three year battle with cancer.
Simon was first diagnosed whilst filming on CASUALTY back in 2006, in his role as Consultant Harry Harper. The cancer has since spread to his lungs and doctors have given him 5 years to live, a prognosis Simon is battling to prove wrong.
He has kept a dignified silence over his illness, continuing to work on CASUALTY till 2007, then leaving to pursue a national theatre tour of ‘Sleuth’ and most recently taking on the role of Captain Georg Von Trapp in ‘The Sound Of Music’ at The London Palladium.
The news will come as another shock to fans, who last year discovered Rebekah Gibbs, who worked alongside Simon MacCorkindale in CASUALTY, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
