DIED : 7th August 1996, at St Colombus Hospice in Leith, Scotland, after a long illness.
Anne was known for her generosity, a distinguished actor once said of her ‘Anne will be remembered for the great emotional truth of her performances and the quirky sense of humour she brought to comedy parts. Her agent said, ‘She was much admired as an actress and much loved as a person’.
Christened Ann, she preferred to be called ‘Annie’, as it was ‘more friendly’.
She was divorced, formerly being ‘Mr Iain Cuthbertson’ and had no children.
TRAINED : At the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
REAL-LIFE ACCIDENT : She once had a fall in the street and went to casualty, she was greeted with ‘Now you’re talking to a real receptionist!’
