Sharon D Clarke awarded MBE

Former HOLBY CITY actress Sharon D Clarke has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year honours for her services to drama.

Sharon, who played doctor Lola Griffin in the medical drama between 2005-2008, is now famed for her roles in musical theatre.

She originated the role of Killer Queen in the musical We Will Rock You and played Oda Mae Brown in Ghost The Musical for which in both she was nominated for an Olivier Award.

This years he has received critical acclaim in the revival of Ma Raine’s Black Bottom at the Lyttleton Theatre.

Meanwhile CASUALTY actress Azuka Oforka’s mother has been appointed a Dame in the Honours for services to nursing and the Mary Seacole Statue Appeal.

On Twitter, she said ‘SO proud of my Mummy! What a woman, what a story… one that shows us no matter how hard a start in life we have, we can achieve anything!!!!’
