S22 E21 (12 Jan 08) : Adrenaline Rush by Stephen McAteer

Episode Summary

Tess’s team is understaffed and under pressure, as work-to-rule continues. She tells Harry to sort it out, before the department suffers. Harry obliges, and a new nurse, Lewis, is brought in to help. At first he seems useful, but then problems start to arise. Patients suffer from unexplained reactions and, when Tess’s suspicions are raised, she ends up in a dangerous situation.

Andrew and his daughter are in a rush getting ready to go out. Carol, the mother, is staying behind and looks unhappy. Later, hanging out the washing, Carol becomes upset and, on hearing some children on the train tracks, goes out on to the train line herself and tells them to go away. She is later found lying on the line and is brought into the ED – her leg beyond repair. Zoe tries to understand why Carol isn’t devastated by this news.

At a local chocolate factory, a worker slips and falls into a vat of chocolate. Up to his face in hot, melted chocolate, he passes out and starts to sink. Dixie gets in to save him.

Alice and Kelsey are making profiles for their internet dating, lying about their interests.

Adam had earlier arrived at the ED with an inflatable doll under his arm, which then accompanies him to an engagement party, where he notices a woman, Jessica, and chats her up.
