A teenage girl is badly beaten up; casualty staff quickly identify her as a prostitute and warn her of the dangers. But even when she finds out that it was her friend who arranged for her to be beaten up, in order to keep her on the game through fear, she discharges herself from the hospital and goes back to her ‘family’.
A woman is brought in after falling downstairs; Kate and Richard discover other injuries and, when her grown-up son loses his temper in the plaster room, staff begin to realise what has been going on.
A pensioner is brought in by her young neighbour with lacerations to her arm. Sam discovers that the two have been fighting about a boundary fence; he suggests to the younger woman that perhaps her neighbour is lonely and the matter could be resolved over tea and schones. The neighbours are reconciled.
