Episode Summary
Travellers Evie and Jim bring in their four year old daughter with a broken ankle. The mother is found to be in the advanced stages of breast cancer. She has endured it in silence as ‘punishment’ for not giving up her daughter, borne as a surrogate for her sister.
Kate advises a young pregnant girl, whose jockey partner has just been kicked to death by a horse, to seek support from his parents. But they blame the girl for encouraging their son to carry on racing.
Baz has a dilemma with an elderly stroke victim, who has made a living will wishing to be left to die in peace. Active treatment has already been started, though; if this is negated, Baz feels it would be actively contributing to her death.
